How To Clean
Tubing

Wash in a hot water and soap solution. Use a non-oily cleaner or mild soap. Do not use synthetic detergents or oil-based soaps. They can be absorbed, only to leach out into blood or other fluids later. Rinse in hot water. Follow with another rinse in distilled water

Sterilization

STEAM

Place on non-linting material or in a clean tray. If the tubing is to be sterilized by autoclaving, sterilize while the lumen is still wet.
Autoclave by one of the following:
  • High-speed instrument (flash) sterilizer. 10 minutes at 132 degrees Celsius (270 degrees fahrenheit) and 30 psi.
  • Standard gravity sterilizer. 30 minutes at 121 degrees celsius (250 degrees fahrenheit) and 15 psi.

RADIATION

  • Exposure at 2.5 megarads produces minimal physical property changes even at 200% elongation.

ETHYLENE OXIDE

  • Ethylene oxide will not deteriorate tubing. This method is not recommended, however, unless you know how long it takes to complete outgassing of residual ETO and other byproducts for the system you use.

Shelf Life

60 months from shipment date when stored at room temperature.
